Socially Useful Managerial Activity, T. John College

Socially Useful Managerial Activities ( SUMA) is a valuable social training for the students. Among other things, the experience helps them to have a broad awareness of the effects of managerial decisions on the socially deprived communities.

Managers need to get an exposure of the management techniques employed by the small setups, especially the ones engaged in social issues like child labour, sustainable development, bio-diversity preservation, caring for the aged and homeless destitutes and street children, educating the less privileged in society and so on, and be more humane in their approach.

Most B-schools in the country have such social work incorporated in the curriculum. This is because of the belief that Managers have an obligation not just to the corporates, but also to the society to which they belong. The training they get from the social organisations helps them to get a broad idea of the effects of their decisions on the socially deprived communities.
